The Indonesian banking sector continues to demonstrate resilient growth amid shifting macroeconomic landscapes, with state-owned lender PT Bank Mandiri (Persero) Tbk delivering a stellar financial performance for the period ending September 2026. Demonstrating robust fundamental strength, Bank Mandiri successfully posted a consolidated net profit of Rp45.5 trillion up to the third quarter of 2026. This figure represents a significant year-on-year (YoY) growth of 20.7%, propelled primarily by aggressive ecosystem-based credit expansion, exponential increases in digital transaction volumes, and sustained operational productivity across all business lines.
The bank’s strategic pivot toward interconnected financial ecosystems has allowed it to capture expansive market segments ranging from government initiatives and state-owned enterprises (SOEs) to commercial businesses, micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs), and retail consumers. Alongside this earnings surge, Bank Mandiri has strategically expanded its bullion banking framework, underpinned by prudent liquidity mobilization, stringent risk management protocols, and carefully maintained asset quality designed to secure long-term, sustainable growth.
Financial Intermediation and Balance Sheet Expansion
A comprehensive breakdown of the financial statements reveals healthy momentum across all primary balance sheet indicators. According to Director of Finance and Strategy Novita Widya Anggraini, Bank Mandiri’s bank-only loan portfolio reached Rp1,605.8 trillion by the end of September 2026, marking a robust 16% YoY expansion.
This credit velocity was comfortably supported by stable liquidity mobilization. Third-Party Funds (DPK) grew by 17.7% YoY to hit Rp1,750.2 trillion. As a direct consequence of this twin expansion in lending and deposit collection, the bank’s total consolidated assets scaled to Rp2,404.1 trillion by the close of the third quarter of 2026, reflecting a notable 20.1% YoY increase.
Novita emphasized that this capital deployment has systematically penetrated critical pillars of the national economy. Financing has successfully supported national infrastructure development, public services, enterprise competitiveness, and non-subsidized microloans that now span across all 37 provinces of Indonesia.
Reflecting this disciplined profitability and capital management, Bank Mandiri has maintained its commitment to delivering tangible value to its shareholders. Throughout 2026, the institution distributed a cumulative Rp50.6 trillion in dividends—including an interim dividend payout of Rp6.16 trillion for the 2026 financial year. Management maintains that this distribution strategy carefully balances aggressive business expansion, capital adequacy preservation, and continuous, sustainable investor yields.
Ecosystem-Based Lending and Regional Distribution
To maximize financial inclusion and mitigate lending risks, Bank Mandiri has systematically leveraged its corporate relationships to finance entire supply chains and business ecosystems. This targeted operational model yielded a corporate credit portfolio of Rp700 trillion as of September 2026, representing a 22% YoY increase.
Director of Operations Timothy Utama explained that this integrated framework seamlessly connects transactional and financing needs across various tiers of commerce. Derivative ecosystem loans—encompassing the SME, micro, and consumer segments—grew by 9% YoY to reach Rp174 trillion by September 2026.
Within the micro-lending segment, non-subsidized loans expanded by 12.9% YoY to Rp31.2 trillion, extending vital working capital to productive enterprises across the archipelago. Regional disbursement metrics further underscore this geographic diversification: on a bank-only basis, loan growth in Bali and Nusa Tenggara reached 10.3% YoY, Java and DI Yogyakarta recorded 5.97% YoY growth, and Sumatra advanced by 5.09% YoY by the end of the third quarter.
"We are intentionally linking the operational needs of corporations, MSMEs, and individual clients so that their transactional and capital requirements are met holistically," Timothy stated. "With robust operational backing, this approach opens up pathways for businesses to scale up and stimulate local economic activity across regions."
Digital Transformation and Customer Experience Redesign
Beyond lending, Bank Mandiri has prioritized comprehensive service transformations to elevate client interactions across physical branches, contact centers, and digital applications. The results of this overhaul have been swift and measurable. Comparing operational metrics from July 2025 to September 2026, total customer complaints dropped by an impressive 74%, while physical queue waiting times at branch offices shortened significantly.
Clients can now connect with the institution’s contact center almost instantaneously without incurring toll charges or pulse fees. Furthermore, the turnaround time for collateral appraisal procedures has been streamlined to just two working days across almost all domestic branches.
A cornerstone of this digital customer interface is Livin’ Call, an integrated feature embedded directly within the Livin’ by Mandiri application. Through Livin’ Call, users can bypass traditional telephone networks, placing high-speed voice queries to customer service representatives within seconds, entirely free of mobile credit charges.
These operational advancements earned the institution top accolades at the national level, including the Grand Champion and Financial Services Champion titles at the Indonesia CX100 Awards 2026. Additional international and domestic honors secured in 2026 include Asia’s Best SME Banking Ecosystem at the Euromoney Awards for Excellence 2026 and Best Sustainable Bank at the FinanceAsia Awards 2026.
Pioneering Bullion Banking and Gold Investment Integration
In response to evolving wealth management demands, Bank Mandiri has capitalized on its status as Indonesia’s first conventional bank to secure a formal bullion banking license. This new business pillar integrates gold savings accounts, installment financing through KSM Emas, and physical gold redemption into a unified digital ecosystem.
Managed entirely via Livin’ by Mandiri, users can open digital gold savings accounts with an initial entry threshold of just 0.02 grams. Subsequent purchases can be executed in fractions starting from 0.005 grams, while liquidations can begin at 0.01 grams, operating on a 24-hour real-time basis.
To bridge the gap between digital asset ownership and physical custody, Bank Mandiri has deployed 28 dedicated Gold ATMs alongside 458 designated physical branches. Customers can seamlessly redeem their digital gold balances into physical bullion certified by ANTAM LM or HRTA GOLD.
"Through our bullion business, we want to simplify public access to integrated gold services right from Livin’ by Mandiri—whether saving, installment financing, or withdrawing physical gold," noted Director of Information Technology Sunarto Xie. "This addition rounds out our financial product suite to match our customers’ changing investment needs."
Scaling Digital Platforms: Livin’ and Kopra
The bank’s proprietary digital super-apps continue to act as key engines for transaction fee income and low-cost funding acquisition. Livin’ by Mandiri recorded 42.6 million registered users by September 2026. Throughout the first nine months of the year, the platform processed 4.18 billion transactions totaling Rp3.863 quadrillion, marking respective YoY increases of 22% and 20%.
The platform’s architectural framework centers around four core financial pillars: Save Money, Move Money, Borrow Money, and Grow Money, complemented by integrated lifestyle solutions. During 2026, Bank Mandiri rolled out seven major platform upgrades, including QR+, e-Deposito, Livin’ Next-G+, Deposit-Backed Loans, SBN-Backed Loans, KSM Emas, and Gold Savings.
For corporate and institutional clients, Kopra by Mandiri registered 406,000 active users by September 2026. Transaction volume on the platform surged by 17% YoY to reach Rp22.801 quadrillion over the nine-month period. To accommodate corporate mobility, Bank Mandiri introduced Kopra Mobile, featuring biometric Face Recognition onboarding, integrated Mobile Token security, and comprehensive real-time balance oversight.
Profitability Drivers and Broader Economic Implications
Underpinning this sweeping digital and physical expansion is a fundamentally sound income statement. Novita noted that robust loan growth and transactional acceleration pushed interest income up by 7.08% YoY to Rp97.3 trillion by September 2026. Meanwhile, non-interest income expanded by 13.8% YoY to reach Rp29.4 trillion, buffering the bank against global monetary volatility.
The sustained financial health of Indonesia’s largest financial institutions carries profound implications for the broader national economy. By sustaining robust capital adequacy and maintaining double-digit credit growth directed toward micro-enterprises and large-scale infrastructure alike, Bank Mandiri acts as a core transmission belt for monetary policy and fiscal development. The synergy between disciplined asset-liability management, digital innovation, and comprehensive financial inclusion positions the bank to navigate potential economic headwinds while delivering long-term value to its stakeholders and the wider Indonesian market.
